Today, more and more international students are looking to study in Australia. This increase presents numerous opportunities, and some challenges, for our growing student accommodation sector.

To help our clients navigate the changing student accommodation landscape, we’re thrilled to release Urbis’ NEW Student Accommodation Mid Year Market Update 2019.

This report comprises our expert insight and review of the key trends emerging – and their impact on investment and development in the student accommodation sector.

Tertiary education enrollments continue to rise in Australia, with an annual average growth rate of 3.7% over the last 15 years. In 2017, there were 1,432,293 students enrolled across higher education institutions.

Educating international students is now Australia’s third-largest export worth over $31 billion a year. Correspondingly, the Australian student accommodation market has recorded strong growth in the last decade, and this growth is expected to continue.

Under supply of residential accommodation, increasing student demand, and a growing level of global equity seeking to diversify investment is driving growth in the Australian student accommodation market.
