As city shapers, we recognise the effect that cultural precincts, creative clusters, festivals and events play in order to make cities more liveable and globally competitive – that is why we are proud to once again sponsor Brisbane Festival.
With an aim to connect artists and audiences in ways that lift spirit, disrupt the conventional and open the city to the world, Brisbane Festival entices an audience of around one million people every year.
In 2019, Brisbane Festival will become Australia’s largest major international arts festival offering more works to more people than any other festival in the country. The festival will ignite the city between 5 – 28 September 2019, electrifying audiences with a program of theatre, music, dance, circus, opera and major public events such as Sunsuper Riverfire.
This year’s program includes over 500 performances of 84 shows, involving more 1000 artists from around the world, including:
- Invisible Cities – a mesmerising mix of theatre, choreography, music, architectural design and projection mapping imagines a succession of alternative worlds.
- Blanc De Blanc Encore – an intoxicating blend of flirtation and acrobatic feats.
- Rite of Spring – China’s superstar choreographer and dancer Yang Liping presents a new interpretation of Stravinsky’s revolutionary ballet of sacrifice and renewal.
- SS Mendi: Dancing The Death Drill – The story of ‘The Black Titanic’, told by one of South Africa’s great music theatre ensembles.
- Swing on This – four of Australia’s leading stage and screen stars unite in true ‘Rat Pack’ style for a new kind of Bris-Vegas.
- Kate Miller-Heidke – Brisbane’s own pop icon performs her unique melds of indie-pop, folk and opera music.
- Sunsuper Riverfire – a pyrotechnic spectacular set to an immense soundtrack.
Brisbane Festival 2019 is Artistic Director David Berthold’s fifth and final program, and is set to be an event not to be missed. We’re thrilled to be involved again this year and look forward to sharing in the celebrations with our friends, families and clients.
