Telstra needed to find a location for its new mobile phone facility in the NSW Blue Mountains, while also managing complex community concerns. Urbis’ carefully planned strategy and innovative approach to public consultation paved the way for Telstra to secure the site.
The tenure negotiation and development application processes were long and complicated – including two years of community and council consultation – with the entire acquisition process spanning four years.
As a result of Urbis’ support, Telstra was able to enhance voice calling and wireless internet performance to address growing demands on the existing network, while minimising the visual impact on the surrounding area. The infrastructure installed at this site will provide essential communications support for the area’s residents and visitors.
