The $562 million Frankston Hospital Redevelopment Project is committed to delivering a contemporary, world-class healing environment.
Urbis is proud to have played a multidisciplinary role for the winning consortium. We provided project positioning and planning advice and strategy, urban design and landscape design services, and economics research.
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) redevelopment will transform services at the hospital – delivering a new 12-storey clinical services tower and main entrance, an additional 130 beds, new spaces for mental health and oncology services, and a state-of-the-art theatre suite, among other upgrades. This will increase capacity to treat approximately 35,000 more patients each year.
This is a once-in-a-generation urban renewal opportunity to reset the public realm and open space, integrating healthcare design that promotes the symbiotic relationship between people’s health and their environment. Urbis’ design approach embeds ecological practice for improved amenity across the site and green spaces that provide comfort, respite, connection, wonder and optimism for a wider therapeutic experience.
Construction will start progressively from 2022, with main works expected to be completed in 2025.
“Urbis is proud to have played a multidisciplinary role for the winning consortium of this major health project – a boom to Frankston and its region.
