Working with Mirvac and John Holland Group, Urbis was the key planning advisor on the Waterloo Metro Quarter Integrated Station Development through the competitive tendering phase and project delivery. Urbis navigated the team through a complex and evolving planning framework and supported an innovative proposition that mitigated planning approval risk.
Since the successful appointment of this joint-venture as the development partner for the project, Urbis was retained as the key planning advisor through project delivery which included the preparation of five State Significant Development Applications (SSDA), including an Amending DA to
the Concept SSDA to realign the project with a new vision to deliver additional employment-generating floor space on the site.
Urbis delivered a multi-disciplinary approach to client service, including inputs from Urbis’ varying business units including heritage, community planning, and property economics. Consent was secured in 2021 for >35,000sqm commercial floor space, 126 apartments, 24 affordable housing apartments, 70 social housing units, housing for 474 students, and the delivery of a new public domain above the Waterloo Metro Quarter station.
