The National Palliative Care Strategy provides an important direction for the delivery of palliative care services throughout Australia.

Over 150 stakeholders including government representatives, clinicians, academics, peak and advocacy bodies and people affected by a life-limiting illness were consulted to inform the development of the Strategy. The new document builds on Urbis’ previous evaluation of the Strategy and implements several of the recommendations arising from the evaluation.

The National Palliative Care Strategy will help shape the future of palliative care in Australia and will be supported by an Implementation Plan and a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan.

The National Strategy represents a commitment of the Commonwealth, state and territory governments to ensuring the highest possible level of palliative throughout Australia.
