Urbis was thrilled to facilitate prompt approval of Strathcona’s new Early Learning Centre and Community building, optimising the newly implemented Non-Government Schools planning pathway.
Located outside of Boroondara’s Development Plan Overlay, the project was the subject of several years of strategic planning.
Following careful engagement with DELWP, City of Boroondara, and local residents, approval was gained within four months of lodgement and with no objections raised –a remarkable achievement and testament to a careful communication strategy.
“We were thrilled to facilitate prompt approval for the new ELC, having faced a number of strategic roadblocks previously.
The project unlocks school owned land to redevelop existing heritage dwellings and sensitively adapt to facilitate a state of the artEarly Years Centre, replete with staff and community space and extensive playground space, relocating from the current Main Campus location.
The new ELC creates seamless connections to the adjoining Junior School and alsounlocks additional playground space for Junior students, helping to create a dedicated sense of address along Scott Street to the campuses whilst being respectful of local heritage and neighbour’s amenity.
The new Early Years Centre is currently under construction and is due to open in 2024, in the School’s Centenary year.
