AusNet Services needed to secure an easement corridor of approximately 17km to connect Acciona’s Mortlake South wind farm (under construction), to AusNet’s sub-station in Terang.

Our brief was to undertake due diligence and feasibility investigations over 81 allotments and 17 landowners to determine the 2 most feasible corridors – the first being the preferred route; and the second acting as our back-up strategy. The proposed corridor was to accommodate a 66kv overhead electricity transmission line. Extraordinary local opposition from landowners (resulting mainly from a misunderstanding of the proposed pole infrastructure), caused numerous changes to the proposed corridors throughout the feasibility phase.

With the preferred route agreed, we commenced commercial discussions with the landowners and their legal representatives to acquire an easement over their respective properties. After successful negotiations on all selected properties, we delivered a secured corridor that assured Acciona’s connection to AusNet’s Terang sub-station and transmission network.
