A former container wharf, Barangaroo South is destined to become Australia’s first large‑scale carbon-neutral community and the greenest financial district in the country.

Located on the western edge of Sydney’s central business district, Barangaroo South is one part of a 22-hectare site currently being transformed into a vibrant waterfront precinct. It will be an exciting mixed-use commercial hub, featuring three office towers, residential apartments, an international hotel, cafes, high-end boutiques and fine-dining restaurants. The area will accommodate 1,800 residents and businesses with a total of 23,000 employees. It is expected to attract around 18 million visitors annually.

In 2013, the key developer of Barangaroo South, Lendlease, commissioned Urbis to assess the site’s proposed retail scheme. Drawing on our unique skills, experience and expertise in the national and international retail market, Urbis forecast the size of the retail market; identified the scheme’s strengths and weaknesses; and presented key economic insights into turnover and the viability of the budgeted rental income.
