TOGA Central will be an iconic gateway for Sydney’s most productive and energetic neighbourhood at Tech Central, combining the beauty of the heritage-listed former Parcels Post building, to be retained on the site, with inspiring new architecture and public realm.

Urbis was the key planning and heritage advisor to the Toga Group in preparing for a state-led rezoning application that facilitates the development of a 42-storey commercial office and hotel development on the site. Our team worked through a rigorous design review process that resulted in favourable site-specific controls that enable the reimagining of a significant building at Central Station with additional employment-generating floor space within the emerging Western Gateway sub-precinct.

We then managed an Architectural Design Competition with five competing firms culminating in the successful appointment of Bates Smart as the winning Architect of the process. Urbis is working with Toga Group and Bates Smart in the preparation of a State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for the construction of the new mixed use development on the site.
