Urbis’ integrated approach was instrumental in assisting Elgin Energy to obtain a planning permit for the Shady Creek Solar Farm which consists of a 65MWp Solar farm and 50MW battery. The success of the project hinged on our ability to lead our multi-disciplinary team cohesively to manage a complex planning and environmental approval process for a piece of renewable energy infrastructure in Victoria.

Utilising our extensive experience in planning, design, stakeholder engagement and GIS, we provided strategic advise and integrated development services to assist Elgin Energy in undertaking stakeholder engagement, preparing the required technical studies for the permit application and provided comprehensive project management through to the projects’ completion.

We also led in the subsequent approval at VCAT, with our team leading the strategic advise and negotiation to an eventual successful outcome via a compulsory conference with neighbours to provide a project outcome that worked for Elgin Energy and the surrounding community.

The holistic One Urbis approach to this development has assisted in the transition of Victoria’s energy mix to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

The success of the project highlights our ability to lead and mange in complex planning and environmental approval processes for key renewable energy infrastructure in Victoria.
