Our team worked with Regis to consolidate six sites within a local centre in Camberwell that had a contentious history from a previous residential development, making it unpopular with both the Council and locals. The site is unusual with opportunities afforded by minimal direct interfaces and challenges from a sensitive creek landscape environment.
To overcome this, we worked with Regis to gain the community’s trust and highlight the many benefits that aged care facilities by proven operators provide. Our team gained planning approval from the Boroondara Council, avoiding any the delays and costs of VCAT. We also used our community consultation and negotiation skills for a quicker approval.
The 3-storey, 90-bed facility will provide much needed housing for the local ageing population within one of Melbourne’s most prestigious suburbs.
Construction on-site is currently underway and we are continuing to work with Regis on the potential for additional height afforded by the new Aged Care planning provisions.
