For more than a century, Mater has been a leading provider of healthcare in Queensland. With the rapidly changing role of hospitals and healthcare providers within first world countries, the impacts of technology, consumer activism and information sharing cannot be underestimated. The Mater Hospital Campus South Brisbane Master Plan has been created to deliver a long-term vision for the future development of the South Brisbane campus, to ensure that we remain at the forefront of this change.

Mater Misericordiae Ltd engaged Urbis in late 2018 to lead and prepare the Master Plan for the precinct. The Master Plan is a product of more than 18 months of research and collaboration with core members of the Mater family.

The Plan has provided an exciting opportunity to think big and bold in supporting the Mater Strategy, and to ensure the precinct grows in a planned and considered way, as the surrounding urban context continues to grow.

The vision for the precinct is underpinned by several key objectives and supporting themes and priorities. This provides a sequenced approach to ensure that the key messages and outcomes for the vision can be delivered. While the projects within this Master Plan won’t happen overnight, they have been designed to provide ideas, structure and guidance for how we can begin to build a successful integrated health precinct into the future.
