Urbis has provided assistance to the Queensland Government Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDMIP) by undertaking research into planning, health and liveability in Queensland.

The work was undertaken over two phases – the first involved a critical review of six planning schemes against the liveable communities State Planning Policy (SPP).

The second involved a review and analysis of the various leading practice initiatives that had been implemented in other jurisdictions.

This work provided insight into the potential planning has to facilitate the creation of healthier and more liveable communities in Queensland.

The research identifies opportunities for the planning and development industry to contribute to healthier communities and places for Queenslanders.
