Urbis is proud to have partnered in a research project recently launched by Barnardos providing insights on the support adults received when impacted by childhood domestic and family violence (DFV). The work was, in part supported by pro bono contributions as part of Urbis’ Give Back initiative. Give Back is Urbis’ commitment to provide direct, meaningful contributions to support vulnerable communities with impact that matters.
The report titled Truth is, the abuse never stopped details the findings of an online survey of 149 people with lived experience conducted by Urbis.
It draws three key areas of recommendation around the support provided to children and young people impacted by DFV: education and training, provision of service and professional support, particularly mental health support; and further research and child-focused data.
With the current lack of data around the experience and impact of DFV on children, the team were really proud to have been able to make an impact and offer our services for such a pivotal piece of work.
“It has been an absolutely privilege working on this research, amplifying the voices of children survivors of domestic and family violence to better understand their experience and how we, as a society can support them better.
