Macquarie Shopping Centre is about to get bigger and brighter. More than 1,200 apartments will be built across four high-density towers as part of AMP Capital’s expansion of the centre.
Urbis was engaged to evaluate what community facilities were needed to support the redevelopment, preparing research that will help AMP implement its site-wide master plan. Our recommendations will ensure the needs of the incoming residents, visitors and students in the area are met through first-class community facilities.
Urbis undertook a retail scheme assessment that projected the likely turnover and rents that are likely to be generated by expanding the retail floorspace in the centre. We also provided guidance and advice on how to generate an optimum outcome from the expanded centre.
In 2012 we were asked to prepare a Statement of Environmental Effects in support of an earlier stage of the expansion. With our guidance, almost 35,000 square metres of retail floor space was added to the centre, creating close to 1,200 retail jobs.
Urbis’ work will ensure Macquarie Shopping Centre remains a vital link in the Macquarie Park Corridor, offering visitors a vibrant retail and lifestyle destination.
