The ACT Government is rethinking the way it provides social infrastructure in Canberra, particularly in centres like Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong and Woden. This rethink responds to city shaping dynamics including a growing population, more apartment living, the introduction of light rail and an increasing focus on urban renewal.

We worked closely with the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate to develop a more contemporary approach to social infrastructure planning in the national capital. This included rethinking benchmarks, moving from co-locating to integrating key social infrastructure and considering the quality and accessibility of open space in addition to the amount of space provided.
