The first stage of Rockhampton Riverside was opened to the public on Tuesday 4 July, concluding the full revitalisation of Quay Street.

This part of the development has opened just in time for the annual Rockhampton River Festival, where attendees can celebrate, create, congregate and consume at the newly revitalised riverfront.

Urbis worked with Rockhampton Regional Council on the redevelopment of this world-class waterfront area on the shores of Queensland’s Fitzroy River. The design incorporates playground areas, river lookouts, shaded walkways and gathering spaces. A streetscape along iconic Quay Street integrates the city’s edge with the riverbank parklands.

Glen Power, Design Director at Urbis says: “It’s great to see Rockhampton River Festival growing from strength to strength since its debut in 2015. We’re particularly pleased that a large component of the near complete riverfront precinct we helped create will be accessible to this year’s public to enjoy”.

Urbis is a proud sponsor of the Rockhampton River Festival, and is also proud to be the naming sponsor alongside local partners McMurtrie Consulting Engineers and Anderson Consulting Engineers for the Gatsby Soirée held at the iconic Customs House on Saturday 15 July.
