Urbis worked with Rockhampton Regional Council on the redevelopment of the Riverside Precinct, a world-class waterfront area on the shores of Queensland’s Fitzroy River. The design incorporates playground areas, river lookouts, shaded walkways and gathering spaces. A streetscape along iconic Quay Street integrates the city’s edge with the riverbank parklands.
Urbis helped complete the master planning, schematic, design and construction documentation for the project. We also worked with the council to develop the Rockhampton CBD Redevelopment Framework, repositioning the CBD as a dynamic, 21st-century regional economic centre.
Urbis also played a key role in resurrecting the city’s renowned Kershaw Gardens, ravaged by Cyclone Yasi in 2013. Our landscape architects led the master planning for the whole site, delivering schematic and detailed designs for the $13 million first phase, which includes a water playground, parkland amenities, shelters, shaded areas and pathways.
