Almost 44,000 young Australians are homeless on any given night.

A frightening fact, and one the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) hopes to change. Their mission: to make a tangible difference to the serious and persistent problem of youth homelessness.

Urbis is proud to support PIF help rebuild the lives of at-risk and homeless youth, by way of participating in or hosting our own charitable initiatives.

Earlier this month, Urbis Sydney put on ‘Toasties for Teens’. Held in the Darling Park Lotus Garden and Pavilion, the fundraising lunch served up gourmet toasties in return for a donation. The cook up raised nearly $1,800 with all the money going directly to the PIF National Hard Hat campaign.

The event was expertly coordinated by resident chefs, Christina Griffiths and Geri Marks, with help from The Collective: an internal team dedicated to driving corporate responsibility initiatives for sustainability, wellbeing and charity. Over 100 Urbis staff enjoyed the spring sunshine, delicious toasties (served with a smile by senior Urbis staff), live music, raffles and games.

Managing Partner, Tim Blythe and Group Director – Planning, John Wynne reflect on the event and its purpose in the video below.

Urbis has been a proud advocate of PIF’s admirable and life-changing work for many years; supporting the creation of homes for at-risk and homeless young people across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.  Over the next five years the Foundation hopes to build houses to assist 125 young people and provide them with counselling and life skills.

We’re honoured to assist groups like PIF work towards overcoming major societal issues such as youth homelessness. Together we can continue to shape cities and communities for a better future.
