Imagining Queensland in 2042

In 2042, Queensland will be alive with the long term social, economic and environmental benefits delivered by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are so proud to be able to announce that we have partnered with engagement experts Articulous, international advisors Buro Happold, and a panel of experts including Dr Tim Willams from Grimshaw and Stephanie Rice OAM to develop the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Strategy and Plan.

The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games is a remarkable one off opportunity to accelerate positive change across the City, Region, State, Nation and Oceania.

The view from 2042 is pretty spectacular.

Urbis Group Director James Tuma says “The Strategy and Plan will set the direction toward a bolder and brighter future for the City, the Region, the State and Nation – maximising the benefits of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the 10 years leading into them, and the 10 years beyond”

“Whilst 2032 is our moment to shine, 2042 is the future that strategic legacy thinking can create.”

Whilst Queensland is, from many perspectives, already one of the worlds great places. A considered and well executed legacy plan will multiply the energy and momentum of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It will celebrate the world’s oldest living culture, improve environmental outcomes, enhance sporting pathways and participation, focus on equity and inclusion, and shape an economy ignited by new industries and technologies.
