March 21 marks the annual celebration of Harmony Day, a day where Australians recognise and celebrate the diverse social and cultural cohesion that embodies the faces of modern Australia.

At Urbis, our differences make us stronger, and we took the time to celebrate our multi-cultural organisation through morning teas and lunches around the nation.

This Harmony Day, each of our offices celebrated together over dishes prepared from around the globe. Along with the delicious international cuisines, we shared stories of growing up in different cultures, from the subzero degree winters of Canada to the magical mountains of Japan, to the Wheatbelt of country Western Australia and north to Milingimbi Island – we discovered how these experiences have shaped us into the people we are today.

We’re all little mosaic’s and when we come together we make a bigger picture.

Celebrating Harmony Day is symbolic of Urbis’ inclusive workplace and an opportunity to embrace our diversity. We also shared cultural traditions and practices, learnt to speak in other languages and put our brightest minds to the test with Harmony Day themed trivia.

In addition to our internal celebrations, we also collected money for Sanctuary Australia Foundation – an organisation that sponsors and assists refugees with services including sponsorship assistance, interest-free travel loans and settlement support services.

In the spirit of Harmony Day, Urbis is also proud to support Gold Coast Director Matthew Schneider and his position on the Study Gold Coast board through sharing their #ourhumanrainbow Embracing Diversity campaign around the nation. #ourhumanrainbow conveys a strong message of celebrating us, both as individuals and as a whole, it’s a message that we at Urbis strongly align to, because at Urbis #everyonebelongs.
