The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia is one of Sydney’s premier sailing clubs and has hosted the iconic Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race since the race inception in 1945. The Club required a development approval to successfully manage the growth and caliber of the pre race events and formalities.
Urbis has assisted the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) in securing development approval for ‘Sydney Race Village’, a temporary event village established annually to support the iconic Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. The DA approval is a significant milestone in formalising the event to accommodate the growth of the Race and the needs of crews, media and major sponsors.
We advised on site planning and the management of the event and prepared the SEE and Plan of Management. Urbis successfully negotiated conditions of consent for a favourable determination, providing certainty for the CYCA, the racing community and Darling Point locals.
“The approval is a significant milestone and accommodates the growth of the Race and the needs of crews, media and major sponsors.
