In 2015, in partnership with Woods Bagot, Urbis created a master plan for a high-density city centre for Springfield in Queensland. Drawing inspiration from great cities overseas, Urbis’s master plan envisages a city centre of distinct neighbourhoods, mixed-use areas and lively spaces – a world city, but also a unique expression of the human and physical environment of Springfield.
The Urbis and Woods Bagot team developed the master plan and a public realm strategy on behalf of Springfield Land Corporation. The new city centre will form the heart of Greater Springfield, a fully master planned city that aims to become a substantial regional city and services hub by 2030.
“Creating Springfield City Centre North from scratch gave Urbis’ design team a chance to envision a city of the future.
Springfield City Centre North will include distinctive and accessible public areas, a transport arrival plaza, accessible green roofs, a stadium, shopping destinations, and exciting places and amenities for children.
