Funded from a partnership between State and Federal Governments, and the local community, the recently opened South West Regional Cancer Centre provides much needed consulting doctors, cancer, and wellness services to support the South West Victorian region. The centre will treat over 500 patients annually.

Our planning team provided advice to the Department of Health and Human Services to facilitate the Epworth Hospital’s development, which included the outline of the planning strategy to facilitate the South West Regional Cancer Centre and the rezoning of sites.

As part of a ministerial amendment, an engagement strategy around the process was implemented with local neighbours. We also prepared the planning scheme amendment documentation to facilitate the rezone of sites to a Public Use Zone.

The regional cancer centre will provide wellness services for the South West, allowing local treatment and avoiding unnecessary and burdensome trips to Melbourne for ill cancer patients.
