The Northern Beaches has a diverse open space network, totalling over 14,000 hectares. However, as an amalgamated area, the Council lacked a cohesive strategy to manage this network into the future.
To respond to this, Urbis worked closely with Council to develop an overarching framework for all open space across the LGA. The framework sets out a priority action plan to guide open space delivery and management over the next 15 years, aligned to best practice principles and community needs.

The framework is supported by a detailed evidence base that identifies the strengths, demands and priorities for open space.
This was informed by extensive provision assessments, community consultation and reviews of leading recreation trends.
Our work will underpin the development of the Northern Beaches Open Space and Recreation Strategy and help Council to continue to provide and safeguard open space access for future generations.

The priority action plan will guide open space delivery and management over the next 15 years, aligned to best practice principles and community needs.
