When the Plenary Group needed to obtain approvals to expand the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, it turned to Urbis for support.

Working collaboratively with architects NH and Woods Bagot to navigate a complex approval process with numerous statutory authorities, Urbis developed a scheme for the site. We also negotiated an Incorporated Document approving development of the site. This involved engaging and collaborating with a range of statutory authorities in a short time frame to facilitate the approval.

The expansion, which included the redevelopment of an A-grade car park, has created an even bigger and better venue. As well as expanding the existing exhibition space, the redevelopment creates a more functional place, effectively integrating its existing spaces. The expansion also saw a significant upgrade to the surrounding public areas and a new hotel to complement the precinct’s growing tourist scene.
