Working with both our clients, Graya and Frank Developments, it was clear from the start that achieving a truly intergrated and cohesive ‘green’ building was a key focus when bringing to life a new residential offering to the the New Farm community. A building that breathes; one where the relationship of the landscape is as important to the surrounding urban landscape as it is for the residents living within the homes. They wanted the new development, Maison, to be one where the connection of inside and outside was seamless.

Our design team worked through a detailed site analysis and collaboration with the clients to deliver a top of the range landscape design that not only blends with the architecture but enhances the local neighbourhood. Three quarters of the Maison building feature a generous deep landscape that offers a lush green pedestrian interface without fences along the corner lot. In addition to the expansive homes, the design of the green rooftop provides recreation facilities where residents can interact and enjoy the Queensland subtropical climate and outdoor lifestyle.

The building’s design has been carefully crafted so each home has a full perimeter landscape that allows for a steady flow of cross ventilation, much like a traditional Queenslander home. The sustainability and resilience of the building and its rooftop has all been carefully considered, down to the highly detailed irrigation system that sustains the leafy green building.
