A world-class waterfront development is taking shape in the city of Bunbury – Western Australia’s unofficial capital of its fast-growing South West region. Koombana North is the first stage of developing Bunbury waterfront’s signature site. At 1,150sqm, it is also the largest site in the development.

Urbis is helping to transform the waterfront at Koombana North into a sought-after coastal destination to give the former industrial port town of Bunbury an improved public waterfront area, better family beaches, retail and commercial areas, and housing in the form of townhouses and apartments.

Our team was engaged by LandCorp to provide master planning, landscape design and construction management for POS, streetscape and shared space areas that create a bold new entry statement to the city of Bunbury.

The southern edge of the site is the location of the ‘future’ bunbury rail station. The project has been designed to convert the current lot from a car park to a bus transfer station in the distant future. There are five mixed use lots in the development, with the first two currently under development, and construction scheduled to begin in early 2017.

Koombana North won two awards at the WA Landscape Architect Awards in July 2017. Hear from Director Carl Thompson and Associate Director Belinda Foster as they discuss the project on News Talk 6PR 822
