The ECU City Campus is a once in a generation development within the Perth City Link. The campus will accommodate the creative industries, business and technology faculties of ECU, including the highly acclaimed Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Once complete, the ECU City Campus will be instrumental in transforming the Perth CBD from a historically office and retail dominated city to a energised and vibrant city centre.

The campus is designed as a memorable landmark building. The ‘theatre’ of the building includes a permeable façade and digital screens, intended to provide insight and interaction with the campus. This was complemented by a strong indigenous cultural narrative imbedded in the design, and best practice sustainability initiatives.

This project was facilitated through the Perth City Deal between the Australian Government, Western Australian Government and the City of Perth. The project received almost universal support across government stakeholders, approval authorities and the broader community.

The project was not without its challenges, which included a highly condensed project schedule and numerous physical constraints. Urbis’s role in this project from initial project strategy, stakeholder engagement and statutory reporting ensured the project followed schedule, and merits of the project remained front of mind.

ECU City Campus will provide a world class educational facility fitting for its iconic location, and will be a welcome addition to local businesses and the community.
