Built in NSW in the early 1920s, the Clyde Refinery was the longest running crude oil refinery in Australia.
Owners Royal Dutch Shell announced in 2011 that the company would end its refining operations and convert the site into a fuel import facility by mid-2013. Urbis was brought in to plan and execute the site’s transformation into a world-class fuel and import storage facility and new town centre.
Using a multidisciplinary approach involving real estate advisors, town planners, urban designers, market researchers and economists, we developed a strategy for the 100-hectare site. The plan met the needs of all stakeholders, delivering a commercially viable facility that strengthens and diversifies the region’s economy.
