Between 2016 and 2036 the population of Camden Council is expected to nearly triple in size, from 80,477 to 233,299. In response to this growth, changes to the community profile, urbanisation of the rural landscape and pressure on the existing network of social infrastructure, Camden Council (Council) engaged Urbis to develop a strategy for open space, play spaces and community facilities to meet the needs of the current and future community.

Development of the strategy took a mixed methodology approach including a demographic study, GIS mapping, economic analysis, benchmarking study and extensive community and stakeholder consultation to understand the challenges and opportunities across the entire LGA.

Completed in 2018, this strategy will have a wide-reaching implications and be used to inform future infrastructure provision, Council’s purchasing and acquisition of land and Council’s 7.11 contributions plans.
