The development of a new multi-jurisdictional court building for Bendigo that places court users at the centre of its operations in a safe, accessible environment is critical to meeting the needs of the Bendigo and Loddon Mallee region communities now and into the future.

Urbis has been involved in the creation of a new facility to meet these requirements since the inception of the project. Urbis worked in collaboration with John Wardle Architects, Court Services Victoria (CSV) and CBRE Project Management to secure an approval via a site-specific Planning Scheme Amendment for CSV. The building is five storeys in height with a modern architectural expression which references the historic city of Bendigo.

The project also involved heritage input due to the future court’s proximity to the historically significant Specimen Cottage. Urbis supported CSV to secure a Heritage Victoria permit for the development with the assistance of Roger Beeston Conservation Architects.

CSV aims to enable provision of accessible justice through buildings that are safe, secure and sustainable to meet the needs of the community.
