Urbis’ work helping Pellicano gainstage-one development consent for its multi-million dollar Ballarat Railway Station Redevelopment illustrates our excellence in urban renewal master planning and approval strategy.

The Victorian Government partnered with Pellicano to deliver a vibrant commercial, transport and community precinct in the heart of Ballarat. Under the plan, the heritage Goods Shed will be opened up to the public as a conference and events centre, incorporating meeting rooms, a 300-seat theatrette and banquet space along with retail and dining offerings.

Following completion of a commuter car park with 405 spaces across three levels in early 2019, development of the wider precinct will see the construction of a 77- room hotel, a public plaza and a bus interchange.

Drawing on our expertise in regional and strategic planning, Urbis provided technical advice and facilitated the planning pathway that helped Pellicano secure approval for their Development Plan through the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). The Development Plan now provides an overall framework for the future mixed use development of the site.

Urbis provided exceptional strategic support and technical advice to Pellicano from the very beginning of the master planning process. That process necessitated a precise balancing of heritage considerations, urban evolution, regional growth imperatives and community needs.
