It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our workmate and friend, Matthew Schneider, late Friday 27 January. Matt was 39.
Matt demonstrated amazing courage and determination since his Stage IV cancer diagnosis in May 2022. His strength and optimism was so infectious that you did genuinely think that if anyone could beat this illness, Matt could. But sadly, Matt’s health deteriorated in recent weeks. We will all miss him more than words can express.
He was not just our co-worker but a loyal, passionate and supportive friend, particularly to his team, clients, and community in Queensland. Matt joined Urbis in 2016 and led the Urbis Gold Coast office. He had an enormous impact on the Gold Coast community both through his work and community involvement – from his roles with Southport Sharks, Planning Institute of Australia, Property Council of Australia, Griffith and Bond Universities, and the many projects he supported clients to successfully deliver in the region.
Matt truly did live his purpose, Be kind; but be fierce.
Our thoughts and support are currently with Matt’s wife, Sam, their three children, Louie, Oliver and Maggie, his parents, extended family, and close friends. The Urbis family grieves with you all at this very sad time.
We appreciate that this sad news will have an impact to many of you on a personal and professional level.
