As shapers of cities and communities, Urbis understands the need for strong communities. A fundamental component of this is strong families, strong relationships, and a fair and equitable society. Urbis firmly believes in the right for all people to marry, to live with dignity and safety and to enjoy healthy relationships in all their diversity.

Equal access to marriage as a civil institution will ensure that everyone is able to fulfil their relationships without discrimination. Urbis supports change as soon as possible to enable marriage equality.

Diverse expertise, backgrounds and viewpoints are essential to tackle the increasingly complex issues facing cities and communities. Talent and great ideas simply don’t come from one type of person.

Urbis supports change as soon as possible to enable marriage equality.

We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where differences –of gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, lifestyle and religious belief – are valued, respected and supported.

Urbis is a community in which people are free to be themselves and share views shaped by their identity and values. We encourage diversity not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because diversity is the key to creativity, innovation and quality of thought.

Wear it Purple Day is an important celebration of inclusiveness and everyone’s right to be who they are.

The Urbis team celebrated Wear it Purple Day on 25 August. Wear it Purple Day is about being proud of who you are and celebrating everybody around you, including diversity in sex, sexuality and gender identities, in perspectives and in values.

Many of our team dug out their favourite purple garments, and marked the occasion with purple cupcakes, jelly beans, balloons and champagne.

Jane Kelly, Director and member of Urbis’ Diversity & Inclusion Board said: “It was a fabulous recognition of an important day in our D&I calendar. Wear it Purple Day is an important celebration of inclusiveness and everyone’s right to be who they are. Recognising and celebrating this is vital to our culture.”

Urbis is a proud supporter of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community. LGBTI is one of the pillars of Urbis’ Diversity & Inclusion strategy, the others being: gender; flexibility; disability, age & culture and reconciliation.
