Australia’s housing crisis is a huge dilemma. Yet for people requiring specialist disability accommodation, it’s an even greater challenge.
As part of our ‘Give Back’ initiative, we have partnered with the Specialist Disability Accommodation Alliance (SDAA) to assist in examining the current issues facing the supply of disability housing.
The SDAA is a not-for-profit peak industry group that brings together some of the nation’s most committed Specialist Disability Accommodation providers and investors to better support development of diverse and sustainable housing for people with disabilities. The SDAA plays a vital role in helping improve lives, supporting many people with disability to secure affordable, accessible and safe housing.
Urbis is preparing an evidence-based study on how key challenges are constraining development. The study will help identify options and make recommendations that address these matters, leading to a positive result of facilitating the development of additional disability housing supply.
This work will inform a submission to the SDA Pricing Review and potential for associated lobbying, which aims to improve channels of investment into the sector and address the current shortage.
Our Property Economics and Research team will lead the study, drawing upon the range of expertise across all our offices to provide specialist input.
We share the desire with SDAA to help make meaningful improvements to people’s lives by shaping communities for the better. We are proud to be part of enacting change and supporting development opportunities to solve the housing crisis.
