As the unprecedented challenges and uncertainties affecting our society unleashed by COVID-19 unfold, Urbis has provided the NSW Government with ideas to remove roadblocks and set a clear path for a strong recovery in the property sector.
Urban Planning has a significant role to play in removing obstacles to sustained growth, which is now so important for our future. Urbis has put forward a series of options to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, that could facilitate development projects to get moving now and continue beyond the current crisis.
These include ideas on how to:
- Fast track e-planning and new technology
- Prioritise strategic planning for growth precincts
- Introduce flexible conditions of consent
- Limit the impact of contributions and levies
- Improve efficiencies in the system
At Urbis, we view that multiple, small wins can be explored and implemented to guarantee the continuation of important housing and employment-generating projects, for the benefit of the NSW community.
