We confirm our support of Perth and Peel@3.5 million as a fundamental element of the initiatives under the State Government’s Planning makes it happen: phase two. The report includes the Sub-Regional Frameworks outlining the future development areas on the Swan Coastal Plain.
The suite of documents comprises of four draft sub-regional planning frameworks for Central, North-West, North-East and South Metropolitan Perth. Once finalised, these frameworks will become sub-regional structure plans used by State agencies and local governments to guide residential and industrial development, and supporting infrastructure.
According to the WA Minster for Planning, the Honourable John Day MLA, Perth and Peel@3.5million identified where new homes and jobs could be located for the 3.5 million people who will live in the Perth metropolitan area by 2050.
Our team will be reviewing the suite of documents in detail over the coming days and will provide further insights and perspectives on how it may affect or alter the growth of greater Perth. We will be examining the information in detail however the key theme is a continued push to consolidation. All the easy land is gone with new areas being typically fragmented which will require a focus on staging and infrastructure cost sharing.
