27 May 2019

As a part of National Reconciliation Week 2019, we are proud to announce our partnership with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) – an award-winning charity that is passionate about helping people in Australia’s most marginalised communities.

The ALNF is dedicated to ensuring all Australians have access to the resources they need to gain vital literacy and numeracy skills to achieve a brighter future.

The Share-A-Book campaign has our people rallying together to support one of the ALNF’s most important literacy programs in remote communities. We are excited to get behind such an important initiative as we take time to reflect and learn, in line with this year’s NRW theme Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage.

In shaping great cities and communities, inclusion and opportunity is front of mind, so the ALNF is a natural partner for us

Urbis Director and RAP Board Member, Claire Grealy said: “At Urbis, we know the value of education and the importance of the early years in children’s development. In shaping great cities and communities, inclusion and opportunity is front of mind, so the ALNF is a natural partner for us. It has been fantastic to see the passion and enthusiasm at Urbis for the Share-A-Book campaign and we look forward to building a strong relationship with the ALNF into the future.”

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Preceded by National Sorry Day on 26 May, the week is held annually from 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. Around the country Urbis acknowledges and celebrates with events in each of our offices.

This week we release the final chapter in our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and look ahead to developing our first Stretch RAP over the next year. For more information on our commitment, click here to view our Reconciliation Action Plan.
