“We don’t have to and don’t want to appoint women on our boards.”
This International Women’s Day the Australian Institute of Company Directors asked nine prominent female directors, including Urbis Chair Lisa Chung, to read out some of the feedback received when AICD asked if there should be more women in Australian boardrooms, proving that the diversity conversation still matters.
The latest figures taken from the AICDs’ 30% by 2018: Gender diversity progress report, show that women now account for 25% of ASX 200 board positions. Although an improvement on 8.3% in 2009, there is still a way to go to achieve 30% by the end of 2018.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BeBoldForChange, inspiring both men and women to strive for, and take action towards, a more gender inclusive world.
The AICD are a strong advocate and leader in promoting board diversity for governance and performance.
Here at Urbis we share the same values.
We are a community in which people of diverse backgrounds are free to be themselves and share views shaped by their identity and values. Ours is an inclusive culture, and we’re proud to be recognised among professional services firms as a champion of workplace diversity.
