This landmark design will reimagine the former Spotlight and Anaconda building in Newcastle and contribute to the continued revival of West End, with 267 apartments in two towers with an estimated construction cost of $100 million.
Using our experience in design excellence competitions, we acted as a leading planning consultant and guided St Hilliers through the competition process, helping achieve a positive result for the City of Newcastle and our client.
In close collaboration with the City of Newcastle and the NSW Government Architect’s Office, we developed a framework for design excellence to ensure that entries were innovative and of the highest quality. The framework was a great way to attract the best architectural talents and ideas to a prominent location.
Plus Architecture was selected as the winning architect by a three-person independent jury with a scheme that has an overall height of 90 metres and features 267 dwellings on two towers with an estimated construction cost of $100 million.
Urbis will be retained as a key planning consultant through the development and implementation of this project.
