In 2014, Urbis prepared a social impact assessment and undertook stakeholder and community consultation to inform the planning and design for a proposed residential development in Leichhardt, Sydney. The application by Greenland to redevelop the former Kolotex factory site proposed a mix of residential apartments, ground-floor retail and underground car parking for residents.
We undertook community consultation prior to lodgement of the development application, including letters and newsletters sent to neighbours and the local community, meetings with local groups, and community information and feedback sessions.
“Due to our continued engagement with the community, the onsite team has been able to identify and resolve issues quickly and sensitively, enabling positive relationships with residents.
Following approval, we have continued to work with the local community and the development and mediation teams. We are providing regular notifications and newsletter updates on demolition, remediation and site works, as well as responding to any community enquiries or concerns.
