Located in the heart of Greenbank, Everleigh is a master planned community forecast to roll out over the next ten to fifteen years. Intended to be the central focus for the community – ‘its Green Heart’ – the first stage of Everleigh Park is made up of 1.5 hectares of recreation parkland. This space includes a large inviting event lawn, a play oval and a junior playground, where residents can meet their new neighbours and engage with the wider community in a natural environment.
Located on former agricultural land with large stands of bushland to the east, Everleigh Park is imbued with the aesthetic characteristic of rural landscapes in the region. The parkland is introduced at the entry from Teviot Road as a largely urban character meandering alongside the entry boulevard through the Green Heart, and eventually connecting into the substantial natural eastern conservation landscape. In response to this urban to natural transition through the site, the selection and composition of the materials, plants and landform has been carefully curated to reinforce the character narrative.
Making a strong first impression, the folded origami inspired sculptural entry feature offers a visual interpretation of the stunning mountains and natural surrounds that form the backdrop to the development. This entry piece forms the beginning of a connecting thread of urban elements woven into the fabric of the development. Through sculpture, furniture, signage and landform, these composed forms and urban materials are represented throughout the natural aesthetic of the development.
A feature of the greater Everleigh project is the quantity of open space and protected bushland that will be preserved for recreation and visual amenity. Ultimately, it is envisaged that over 25% of the overall development will be dedicated to open space including conservation parkland, regional, local, linear recreational parks and a large network of walking trails will provide plenty of choice for active families.
““Connection has been a recurring theme for the project; connecting design features and establishing physical and visual connections has been a driving force in the design evolution, but more importantly is the desire to create genuine human connection that celebrates community, meaning and a healthy life.”
