Urbis has provided urban and social planning services to Yuhu Properties (Australia), which has embarked on a major redevelopment of a key site in the Eastwood town centre in Sydney’s northern suburbs, which will contribute to extending and enhancing the current eclectic mix and vibrancy of the area.
The site currently accommodates a retail shopping centre providing some 12,500sqm of retail space anchored by a supermarket as well as 2,400sqm of commercial space and parking for 426 cars. The Development Application for this significant site includes seven residential buildings containing 443 apartments, two levels of retail, a commercial building, and a medical centre coupled with additional car parking.
The redevelopment seeks to extend and enhance the existing public domain and landscape, naturally extending activation and vibrancy through the site. The project will set up new and compelling through site connections, which link Rowe Street and Rutledge Street physically and visually.
“The redevelopment of the Eastwood Centre will set a benchmark for mixed use centres that places the pedestrian at the heart of the development and provide an interconnected network of laneways, open market spaces and gardens.
