Urbis was commissioned to obtain planning approval for a boutique office tower of 23 levels, on the corner of Little Bourke and King Streets, in the centre of Melbourne’s legal precinct.
Amsterdam-based architects UNStudio developed the tower design in collaboration with Melbourne based architects XO Projects.
The development was approved by the City of Melbourne on the 31 July 2020.
The finished building includes 24,000sq.m of mixed-use floor area, multiple terraces, and will seek to rejuvenate and activate Brown Alley to the rear and the adjoining pocket park at street level.
The revised scheme delivers an elegant development of architectural excellence, environmentally sustainable design, innovation and planning merit, on a larger amalgamated block.
Importantly, the project will retain the historic Great Western Hotel on the corner of Little Bourke and King Streets for the purpose of a ‘watering hole’ for patrons of the building.
“Urbis was appointed to provide planning services for the project and has assisted Argo throughout the application phase, leading negotiations with council to promptly obtain the planning permit.
