Urbis was engaged to provide planning advice and prepare an Integrated Development Application for a multi-unit housing development – comprising 650 dwellings across seven buildings – at Schofields in Sydney’s North West Growth Centre.
The proposed development will contribute towards the objectives of the NSW Government through the delivery of housing supply in a location that is planned for growth, supported by social and community infrastructure and upgrades to transport services. The site layout was designed to connect with the future road network to the north and will enable the development to occur in stages.
A future rail transport corridor is to be located through the southern part of the site. Urbis provided advice on the implications of the future rail corridor and consulted extensively with planning and transport authorities to secure support for the proposal.
The development will provide a contemporary addition to the locality, complemented by a comprehensive landscape scheme that includes new streets and public domain landscaping and a variety of passive open space areas for future residents. The 4-5 storey buildings will establish a positive response to the desired streetscape character of the precinct by providing an address to all street frontages.
“In approving the development application, the Sydney central planning panel determined the proposal will add to the availability and range of housing in Schofields, and thereby improve housing affordability.
