Urbis was proud to attend the University of New South Wales’ event marking 50 years of planning education on Tuesday 2 November.
The event brought together friends, partners in industry, government, staff and students to acknowledge the achievements and contribution of UNSW’s alumni to the planning industry.
Rob Stokes MP, NSW Minister for Planning, gave an inspiring keynote address about the quality of UNSW graduates and the importance of strategic thinking.
An exhibition of current graduating students’ research projects and alumni profiles was on show for the evening including Urbis’ own Kate Ryan, Emma Fitzgerald, Toni Walter and Ryan Macindoe.
David Hoy, Sydney regional director, said: “Over the last 50 years UNSW has established itself as one of Australia’s foremost planning schools and has played an important part in educating many of Sydney’s planners and leading urban thinkers. Across all levels of our business you will find graduates of the UNSW Planning School helping to shape the cities and communities of Australia.”
Maree Worthington-Alder, a UNSW planning alumnus and Urbis’ research & strategic knowledge manager, attended on the night. She added: “We’re extremely proud of our students’ fantastic achievements and were thrilled to join UNSW to celebrate such a significant milestone.”
