We’re thrilled to be involved with the Girls in Property initiative. Spearheaded by the Property Council of Australia and the NSW Department of Education, the program seeks to encourage greater female participation in the property industry and challenge gender stereotypes.

Over the course of this week, 120 Year 10 students have had a taste of careers in the property industry, including architecture and design, town planning, legal services, consultancy, business and sales, communications, environmental studies and human resources.

Urbis Director Clinton Ostwald is passionate about increasing female participation in our industry. He’s a member of Urbis’ Gender Diversity Working Group, which seeks to accelerate Urbis’ progress in this space.

Building a diverse workforce within the property industry is vital to ensuring our future success. Organisations need to be as diverse as the communities they operate in.

Clinton is also Deputy Chair of the Property Council NSW Diversity Committee, a sponsor in the Property Council’s 100 Women in Property program and was MC on day one of the Girls in Property event.

“Building a diverse workforce within the property industry is vital to ensuring our future success.  Organisations need to be as diverse as the communities they operate in, ensuring we capture the best approaches by fostering a diversity of thought.

“As City Shapers, at Urbis we recognise the value of fostering a diverse culture across all parts of our firm, with a number of initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion.  I am personally very proud to be part of the Girls in Property initiative, encouraging the next generation of women to consider property as a fulfilling career opportunity.”

The students will be invited to participate in an ongoing mentoring program, which Urbis will contribute to over the coming months.
