Trusted property analyst Urbis has signalled a potential oversupply situation for inner Brisbane apartments.

“There are now 2769 off-the-plan apartments available for sale in the market – if this number pushes out further, and demand drops away, then we will face an oversupply situation,” Economic and market research director Malcolm Aikman said.

Urbis estimates around 2900 apartments will launch during the next quarter, bringing the total number of available apartments to close to 5700.

“We would expect the next quarter to be the fork in the road signalling which way the market will go. The situation will be carefully monitored,” Mr Aikman said.
